Recommendations
Just a small sample of suggestions based on my experiences here so far…
-
Umpadhi Hotel
Linda (EbsMum) stayed here in May-June 2024 for a ridiculously reasonable rate (around $60AUD a night). It’s a newish hotel that’s not well known and is slightly out of the hustle and bustle of downtown Canggu, amidst some rice paddies.
Has a great little schmancy restaurant and lovely staff. We both highly recommend the Umpadhi as a hotel option.

Layday Hostel
Layday is your typical backpacker hostel with a twist, insofar that it has two sections; one with a bar, cafe and dormitories, and another 200m down the road with one bedroom rooms in a large quite villa.
Layday offers the best of both worlds; a pool and bar area with social events and someone always around to talk to.
Definitely recommended for the solo travelers who looking for a Bali backpacker experience.

The "I'm Family" Villa
For those of you that are family (you know who you are), let me know when you’re coming and I’ll organise a villa for either your tiny unit or a group villa with other relos.
-
Other Accommodation
If you’d prefer to organise your own accommodation, I recommend looking on Booking dot com.
Everything will be based in or around Canggu so I wouldn’t suggest going further south than Umalas, further north than Seseh and further east than Kerobokan (insert Schapelle Corby joke here).

Bagus Transport
Ebs neighbour Bagus (pronounced Bar-goose, meaning good in Indonesian) is a driver and we can arrange to have him pick you up from the airport.
If you would like us to arrange this for you, let Ebs know.

Other Transport
It’s easy to get hustled when you get to Denpasar airport by the sea of drivers looking for work.
My advice would be arrange transport in advance, ask Ebs to meet you at the airport and escort you to your location.
If you have the Grab app on your phone and it’s activated, you can use that for transport but I’d recommend only doing that if you’ve done it before.
